Safety Demos, “kiwi” made
AIR NEW ZEALAND is known for their innovative and creative safety demos shown on board their fleet. Although pre-takeoff safety demos are an essential feature of each passenger cabin preparation procedure, studies have shown that not all passengers are interested in watching them or even check the safety card in the pockets of their seats.
In order to increase passengers’ awareness regarding safety procedures, many airlines decided to add a twist in their safety demos. Some of these videos made their way to the internet, becoming viral and promoting the airlines who made them.
Air New Zealand has made three remarkable attempts in this framework. They started in 2009, with the “Bare Essentials”, a safety video where naked cabin and cockpit crews did the pre-take off presentation (well, technically they were bare).
In 2010, the airline went further ahead by hiring New Zealand’s National Rugby Union Team, locally known as “All Blacks”
Their latest addition, speaks for itself and most probably takes the biscuit. Cabin crew and TV personalities are kicking ass!
